Global Finals is the culminating event of every Destination Imagination season. DI teams that advance past Regional and Affiliate (state/country) Tournaments are invited to participate in Global Finals. There will be over 8,000 students, in total over 17,000 in attendance when you add the families and appraisers from the United States and over 15 different countries! The scheduled festivities include the Destination Imagination Tournament, interactive exhibits, pin trading, skills workshops, international events and more.  This is the world's largest creative problem solving program in the World!

The Lake Geneva Schools' DI Team fabricated a robot goat "maze-traveler" which travels through 1 of 4 mazes to get to New York City. They encounter many strange obstacles in their play and must use technical methods to get through.  In the qualifying competition, the team scored 98 out of 100 for their instant challenge, of which they knew nothing prior to entering.

“They continue to impress me every day!  This is an amazing accomplishment to get this far and is rare that an elementary team from Lake Geneva has done this!” stated Heather Torgerson, Destination Imagination Team Manager.

About Lake Geneva Schools Destination Imagination (DI) Program
Destination Imagination (DI) is a volunteer-led, educational program that teaches 21st century skills and STEM principles to K-12th graders through creative and collaborative problem solving challenges. DI is one of the many programs in our Lake Geneva Schools Gifted & Talented Education program. This program has been offered since 1989.

DI team members work together to develop a solution to one of 7 open-ended (age-appropriate) challenges and present their solutions at tournaments. Through the Challenge program, students learn and experience the creative process from imagination to innovation, and learn skills needed to succeed in school, career and life, including teamwork, communication, project management, perseverance, creative and critical thinking, and self-confidence.  Every student should experience DI. Students from K thru HS can join.  The DI program starts in the Fall.
