6.1.20 End of the Year Principal Update

June 1, 2020

Dear Eastview Families,

I hope this email finds you in good health.  I have greatly appreciated your patience as we have been adjusting, like you, to the unforeseen ways in which our lives have changed in the last few months.  Parents, students, and the entire staff have shown incredible resilience, and we are proud of how the Lake Geneva community has positively responded to ensure that our students continue to be served.  As the school year comes to an end, I would like to share some important information with you:

School Office Hours – The office at Eastview Elementary will be open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM - noon until June 15th.  I will be in and out of the office, throughout June and July, to check phone messages, but the best way to reach me immediately is through email. We will reopen our office on August 3rd.   Please feel free to contact me if I can be of any help to you throughout the summer. Beginning June 8th and throughout the summer, the District Office will be open Monday through Thursday 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM and Friday from 7:30 AM -1:30 PM.

Pick-Up & Drop-Off Day: June 5th – We plan to see you on Friday, June 5th for our drop-off of materials and pick-up of student belongings.  Click here for InstructionsPlease remember to bring a bag labeled with your child’s complete name and homeroom teacher and containing their chromebook, chromebook charger, and any books/materials that need to be returned to school.

Summer Meals – The LG District will continue to offer grab-n-go breakfast and lunch, at least through June 30th at the current sites.  Changes to this plan, if any, will be shared on the Eastview Facebook page and on the Lake Geneva School District website.  www.lakegenevaschools.org

Summer School – Our summer school program, for our current 4th graders heading into 5th grade, is being planned for August 3rd through August 21st.  This is an invite only program that is designed to give students a “jump start” into the routines of being in school while focusing instruction on the needs of individual students. Invitations are being mailed home on June 12th.  Information about summer school for our current 5th graders, entering 6th grade, will be mailed out from LGMS.

Yearbooks – If you ordered a yearbook for your child, it is being sent home in their “belongings” bag on the Pick-up and Drop-Off Day on June 5th.  If you contacted Mrs. Grelyak about requesting a yearbook, payment is due to her by June 3rd.  Payment can be dropped in the dropbox outside of the mail office or placed in the mail.

E-Registration
– The window for e-registration opens on July 31st  for the 2020-2021 school year.  Further details and school updates will be shared throughout the summer.

Moving and Communication -  If you move or change your phone number and/or email address throughout the summer, PLEASE let us know.  We would hate to have you miss some important information due to a simple missed address or phone number change.

As we move forward, communication will be key to our success.  I know that you will have many questions about the upcoming school year.  Please know that the District will continue to make cautious and careful decisions regarding our return to school, always focused on what is best for our students.  Be sure to check the District website for updates throughout the summer.

In closing, I want to again thank you for a wonderful school year.  I truly appreciate your efforts to work through the struggles that resulted from our unexpected closure.  It has been a new learning experience for all of us.  I hope your family enjoys the activities we have planned for students the week of June 1st.  We wanted to celebrate them and all of their accomplishments from this school year.  Best of luck to our 5th graders as they move on to Lake Geneva Middle School.  We will truly miss you and can’t wait to see all that you accomplish at LGMS.

Wishing you a safe and enjoyable summer break and remembering how proud I am to be a part of the Eastview Eagle team!

Sincerely,

Erin Zigler
