4.24.20 Principal Update

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I hope that this email finds you well and that your families are safe and healthy.  I know that I speak for all of the Eastview staff in sharing how much we miss your children and the normal routines of school.  We think of them daily as we continue to provide support to our students through our virtual learning platform.

As you are aware, the announcement was made last week that Wisconsin schools will remain closed through the end of this school year.  With this announcement, we wanted to update you on a few processes and procedures, at Eastview, as we continue to focus on supporting your child and on learning.

-Teachers will continue to provide students with virtual learning assignments Monday - Thursday.  Assignments will be emailed out to students daily at 8:30 AM.

-Fridays will continue to be a day to provide students and parents with feedback on assignments from the week as well as enrichment opportunities.  It is also an opportunity for students to get caught up on late work and receive additional support from their teacher.

-We will be issuing 4th quarter report cards at the end of the school year, and students will be receiving letter grades for 4th quarter.  Grades will be based on the assignments that students have completed during the 4th quarter of virtual learning.  We will be using a “no harm” approach to our grading, with a focus on positive, specific feedback to students including opportunities for self reflection and growth.  If students do not complete mandatory assignments and/or the majority of work in a particular subject, it will be marked as “No Evidence.”

-In June, we will have a coordinated day for students to pick-up all materials that were left at school.  On this day, students will also be asked to return their Chromebook and charger, library books, and teacher novels.  More details will be sent to you prior to this event.

Lastly, we wanted to thank all of our students and families for their tremendous support during this time.  We are so proud of the amazing work we see our students completing daily.  Not only are students engaged academically, but more importantly, they are supporting one another and supporting our Eastview community.  Thank you, parents, for your patience, guidance, and kindness as you work with your children at home daily.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have questions or concerns.  The best way to reach me is at my email address [email protected].

Sincerely,

Erin Zigler
