Dear Parents/Guardians,
As you are now aware, beginning on Monday, March 16th, Lake Geneva Joint #1 has closed its buildings due to COVID-19. During this time, it will be our goal to continue to provide your child with a quality education to the best of our abilities. Distance learning will be a new experience for all of us, but we are hopeful that it will continue to meet the needs of our students. To ensure that students have the tools that they need at home to be a success, we did send students home with all supplies on Friday, March 13th, including their chromebooks. We will be asking that students use their chromebooks at home to access curricular materials and maintain contact with their teacher. If you still need to pick up materials for your child, Eastview will be open from 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM on Monday, March 16th and Tuesday, March 17th.
As a parent, here is what you should expect daily:
- Each morning, your child will receive an email from their homeroom teacher at 8:30 AM.
- This email will contain an assignment sheet with information about the learning goals for the day including the learning target, instructional tutorials, assignments, and assessment due dates.
- Each day, we will also provide teacher-student conferencing time to allow students to check-in with their teacher. Our goal would be to rotate these times so that each student would have an opportunity to conference with their teacher at least once a week. The tool that we will use to do this is Google Hangout or Zoom.
- Teachers will be accessible to students during normal school hours, 8:35 AM - 3:40 PM. If students have questions, they can email teachers, and teachers will respond in a timely manner.
- As students turn in assignments, teachers will continue to monitor student growth and provide students with feedback.
- We have also talked to our specialty teachers who will be providing daily resources for students as well.
Please know that we will continue to update you through email. I will also continue to post on our Eastview Facebook page. The Lake Geneva School Website has created an excellent resource of information for parents. Please check this frequently: https://www.lakegenevaschools.com/news/coronavirus___c_o_v_i_d-19_
We appreciate all of your support through this process, as we know that students will need some guidance and assistance at home. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at any time.
Sincerely,
Erin Zigler
